Both versions weigh up to 11 lbs/5k in both ounces/pounds and grams/kilos. Both run on included batteries (I recommended switching to rechargeables).
They can be tared out to zero if you're using a container. Lightweight plastic bowls, bins, and colanders work well to contain fiber--use a styrofoam packing block under the container to raise it if it's so large it's obscuring your display.
For weighing out fiber, dye powder, or mail. If you're using it for dye, please don't use in the kitchen as well.
